Founder decisions / Executive intelligence

Prove one growth motion before multiplying it.

A narrow pilot can reveal what an ambitious rollout would otherwise conceal.

Choose a decision the pilot can answer

A useful pilot tests a specific commercial hypothesis: can this audience, approached with this offer, produce the agreed type of conversation within the available operating capacity?

Choose one initial audience, service, geography, and message. This creates a clearer learning environment. If several variables change at once, a positive result is harder to repeat and a weak result is harder to explain.

Check receiving capacity

Before sending more outreach, confirm that the business can handle replies, intake conversations, specialist assignments, and follow-up. A campaign that outpaces the receiving team can waste the interest it creates.

Write down available appointment capacity and reply ownership. Include what happens when capacity is full. The commercial system includes the people who receive demand, not just the tools that generate it.

Agree the evidence and review rhythm

Set the campaign duration, qualification rules, exclusions, and reporting cadence at kickoff. Establish a baseline and avoid promising an outcome unsupported by evidence.

Review the progression from contact to reply, attendance, accepted opportunity, and the relevant downstream result. Look at time and effort as well as volume. A motion that only works through constant founder intervention may need redesign before it expands.

Make expansion conditional

At the review, choose one of three actions: repeat the motion, change one meaningful variable, or stop it. Explain the decision with the observed record.

Expand to a second market or audience when the first motion is repeatable and the receiving process can sustain it. Preserve the successful definitions and handoffs so the next campaign begins with accumulated learning.

The leadership question

What evidence would convince you to stop this pilot? Defining that in advance makes the decision to continue more credible.

Examples are illustrative operating scenarios.
